They make a huge difference. Probably the biggest single difference of any item or weapon, besides a forgegun on a roof.

So I spec'd into Proto Heavy.. when that gets boring, I run my dren suits... and I cant really fit a 3 second proto uplink in there. Well I could if I felt like spending my precious SP into something that I only use in pubs, but not much more. SO I run advanced (so I can drop 2 of them).. but they are the 10 second variety. Would it be better if I didnt drop uplinks? Or should I just sit out since I dont have a proto suit that can carry proto uplinks.. mind boggled. Anyway, back to my original statement.. not everyone runs proto. Deal with it

Why is everyone so poor in this game. I could run proto all day and still make ISK in pubs. You guys who've been here since open beta really need to learn to save ISK - because proto uplinks on a mlt suit then suicide - doesn't cost much, and is game changing.
But like you said in another post - I'm a try hard. A guy who actually cares about winning. How dare me? Lol

I've got no problems with isk, but I also dont need to run proto to be successful in a pub. Sometimes I'm feeling froggish so I will leap into my proto suit... But I made a comment about adv uplinks being "ok" in a pub match and feel that people shouldnt get too bent out of shape by them. I could understand someone being frustrated at a long spawn in a PC match where every second counts, but a pub match? c'mon lol. The point of the game is to not die, yet you recommend suiciding for the sake of getting an uplink in that shaves a few seconds off a spawn... of which said uplink will most likely get destroyed shortly after you drop it. So you just wasted a clone for what...

But yea - you were right originally to say I was just ranting.
And one clone never lost an objective based game. It's standard for an opening move for a guy to rush city with proto uplinks then suicide once they're in place to spawn in with his slayer suit.
